Bothin

Nestled in a wooded canyon in beautiful Marin County, Bothin offers winterized facilities, trail access to open space, a ropes course, archery, and close proximity to a variety of environmental and adventure-based resources.

Whether you are seeking accommodations for site-based programs or offsite adventures, Bothin provides a menu of affordable options. Weekday and weekend rentals of individual buildings or entire camp are available except for summer camp dates.

Driving directions, sitemaps, and additional information are provided upon reservation.

Rental Period

Rental Period: 22 hours, 4:00 PM - 2:00 PM

Shared Use Statement: Bothin is our busiest camp, especially during weekends, regularly accommodating multiple groups who are staying overnight or participating in a day program. Please expect that you will be sharing Bothin with others. For questions about camp properties, contact info@gsnorcal.org.

On-Site Resources & Amenities

  • Archery range: available to rent. You must provide equipment and level 1 certifies instructor. For questions regarding archery programs at Bothin, please email getoutdoors@gsnorcal.org.
  • High Ropes or Low Challenge course available through Outdoor Program staff. Click here for more information.
  • Large meadow/field: great area for large group gatherings and games.

  • Hiking trails: request a topographical map and trail descriptions. Trail access to Marin Open Space hiking trails.

Site Information

Total Camp Capacity: 247 people/night

Buildings: Lyman, Manor, Stone House, Little House and The Cottage
All buildings include:

  • Dormitory rooms and small rooms with single beds and bunk beds (bedding not provided)
  • Living room/meeting room
  • Full kitchen with stove/oven, pots/pans, and refrigeration
  • Indoor showers and shared bathrooms
  • Fireplace

Platform Tents:
“Bay Tree” has four tents with six mats per tent, a campfire circle, picnic tables, potable water, and a bathroom with two toilets. Seasonable availability from April–October.

Open Air Cabins:
"Bush" has three cabins with six beds, one cabin with four beds, three toilets, and one shower (ADA designed). There is a campfire stage, a rotunda cooking shelter with lights, a sink, counter space, picnic tables, and barbecue. Seasonable availability from March–October.

Dining Hall/Commercial Kitchen:

  • Fully equipped commercial kitchen and dining hall
  • Capacity 225 people
  • Food handler's permit required

Driving time from San Francisco:
Camp Bothin is located west of San Rafael, near Fairfax, about 1 hour from San Francisco.
